LTA was selected as the successful proponent in a competitive RFP process for the Feasibility Study stage and completed the Feasibility Study in spring 2013 with approval by Kwakiutl Band Council and Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada (AANDC). The project is a K-Grade 7 school and was completed in 2016. Multiple design charrettes with the Kwakiutl community throughout the schematic design and design development phases helped to develop the form and plan of the school. Even the future students were involved in the design charrettes and show great enthusiasm about their new school. This process was very important to Kwakiutl because they want to ensure the transfer of historical value. For example, the entry canopy was designed as a teaching tool representing the traditional framing and structure of their historical buildings and the heart of the school is the multi-purpose cultural room that is intended to be a modern interpretation of Kwakiutl's traditional Big House.

In order to simplify and economize the construction of the large gymnasium, it was designed as an all wood, prefabricated system manufactured off site complete with interior and exterior finishes and all installations within each 8 ft panel and erected on site by a small crew.
